— Innovatin Hub

Our Vision

Innovation is essential for sustained growth and one of the key drivers is an innovative mind-set and culture. Inspiring legacies of bygone national and global innovators need to be showcased to the young to seed the mind-set change. Science Centres need to play a role in communicating this message to young and all.

National Council of Science Museums (NCSM) is implementing the project of setting up Innovation hubs in the country under the scheme of SPOCS (Scheme for Promotion of Culture of Science).

India's future rests on its ability to harness the creative potential of its large young population. In order to foster innovation and creativity, problem and project-based learning (PBL) play an important role. These help to link education to relevant (often) ill-defined real-life experience and this connection is crucial for engaging the young minds and increases their motivation levels. Undertaking innovative experiments, projects and problem solving exercise in multi-disciplinary set up bring joy to learning. This enjoyment factor enhances young people's motivation and interest levels, thereby opens doors for flow and creativity.

The objectives of the NCSM Innovation Hubs are:

  • To equip and strengthen activities of the existing Science Centres to inspire innovations by young children.
  • To catalyze creation of more innovation hubs in different parts of the country especially in rural areas.
  • To provide appropriate environment to nurture creative and innovating ideas of young children.
